The Map Doesn’t End at Seven

In 2007, the Swiss-based New7Wonders Foundation held a global vote to choose the New 7 Wonders of the World from over 200 nominated sites. The campaign reached over 100 million votes worldwide, reflecting the idea that global citizens—not just historians—should have a say in what we cherish.
The winners were:
1-Great Wall of China (China)
2-Petra (Jordan)
3-Christ the Redeemer (Brazil)
4-Machu Picchu (Peru)
5-Chichen Itzá (Mexico)
6-Roman Colosseum (Italy)
7-Taj Mahal (India)
These new wonders reflect a wider world, one where continents beyond the Mediterranean finally have their marvels recognized. But still something’s missing.

Rethinking the Idea of “Wonders” – One Journey at a Time

For centuries, the world has celebrated Seven Wonders—a list carved in stone, literally and metaphorically. But what if wonder isn’t limited to a select few monuments? What if the real magic of travel lies in discovering the awe-inspiring places that don’t always make the list?
At Wonders & Wanderers, we believe that every country, no matter how small or overlooked, holds its own wonders—not just in grand structures or ancient ruins, but in silent forests, hidden shrines, forgotten fortresses, and the quiet resilience of local stories.
